Spinning into Romance: A Night at Akemi Revolving Restaurant in Dar Es Salaam

A night in Dar Es Salaam is all warm vibes and pretty lights, with a cool breeze and a chill feel. It’s just right for a romantic time. Of course isn’t New York, but it’s got its own vibe- busy streets with bajajis zipping around, bright lights popping up here and there, and people laughing. Music spill outs, and the harbor air keeps it fresh. It’s lively and perfect for a fun night out.

One night, my husband and I took a bajaji for a fun ride to the Akemi Revolving Restaurant, and let me tell you, it’s not just a meal- it’s a whole romantic adventure! Up in the Golden Jubilee Towers, this modern gem spins slowly, showing off stunning 360-degree views of the city lights and harbor. It’s not just your average restaurant- it’s a romantic, totally fresh experience when you’re in Dar. It’s the only revolving restaurant in Tanzania, with this sleek, modern feel. We sat there, all cozy.

The staff were so friendly, my husband enjoyed a cold Kilimanjaro beer, and we shared a delicious beef fillet with salad and mashed potatoes. I sipped a martini, feeling all fancy, and you don’t even notice the spin. You don’t feel a thing as it moves. Takes about two hours for a full spin, so you can really enjoy the moment. Oh, and a tip- go early since it can get crowded!
