Encarnacion: A Weekend of Family and Low- Season Bliss

Hola amigos, today I want to share my time in Encarnacion, famous for the beach. It all started with a 6-hour bus ride from Asuncion- me, my mom and my dad, bumping along the road with an exciting birthday surprise. It was my dad’s birthday, and I wanted to wow him with a getaway to Playa San Jose. The trip felt long by comfortable. We walked the Costanera together, the river breeze cooling us downs, and I’ll never forget him laughing as he splashed in the calm Parana waters- better than any gift I could’ve bought.

With fewer people around, the beach wasn’t full, and we could stroll the Costanera so easily- pure freedom! The weather was great too, warm not too hot, just right for enjoying the day.

Midday, we grabbed lunch at the shopping center- nothing fancy, just good food to fuel our adventure. Then we headed back to the apartment to relax and wait for the sunset. As the sky turned orange, we strolled to the beach and settled into the restaurant Real Costanera, right by the water to celebrate. The food was delicious- fresh, flavorful, and fair price, exactly what we needed, a big picada to share, milanesitas, piled with cheese, ham, crispy fries, plump olives, and fresh bread. I ordered a pina colada, sipping it while the music played and the lights danced across the water. At night, we toasted his birthday surrounded by that lively beach vibe. Encarnacion wasn’t just a destination- it was where I got to make a memory with my family, and that’s what I’ll always carry from this trip.

Here’s a tip: two days are enough, or a weekend like we spent there, to enjoy the beach and more. You can easily fit in a visit to the city center and some museums too- perfect for mixing relaxation with a big of exploring!
